OmniPayments – where are we headed with NonStop?

Looking around the many social media channels on offer today and checking out what our peers are saying, when it comes to NonStop there is considerably impetus developing behind NonStop X. These are the Intel chip-based systems from the HPE NonStop team and support the Intel X architecture. On the other hand, when it comes to OmniPayments, there is so much going on today at the company that perhaps where we are headed isn’t all that clear. First up, and something OmniPayments CEO Yash Kapadia constantly reminds me of, is that OmniPayments is customer-driven. OmniPayments is not beholden to a group of faceless shareholders as may be the case with other payments solutions providers, but rather as a private company, it really is beholden to its customers. Yash has been in the software solutions business far too long to simply latch on to the latest and greatest ghee-whiz gadget or neat programming trick, he carefully tracks both the industry and a select number of his key customer...

OmniPayments in upcoming August issue of NonStop Insider

Look for separate articles / commentaries from Craig Lawrance and Richard Buckle. Craig tackles The strange death of Cash “ As we increasingly race towards a digital future where payments are made not only with cards but with mobiles (i.e. any way but cash), there are still between 6-7% of the UK adult population who still rely on cash …” Richard comments on OmniPayments, together with HPE, covers a lot of miles to switch on Financial Institutions everywhere to the value of OmniPayments solutions! “ When you think of possible opposite ends of the globe perhaps you don’t automatically think of Chile and South Africa but for sailors of years past, both these locations represented formidable obstacles as both sent ships so far south to round their respective capes, there was no place for the faint of heart …” Yes, OmniPayments covered a lot of ground in July and the OmniPayments team have continued to provide strong support for a compelling message focused on payaments an...

Cashless made easy – further developments in payments processing!

When it comes to payments and payments switches there are many approaches that can be pursued when implementing them and with each step taken, new opportunities may open up. There is never a dull moment to be had when so many parties are involved and it all comes down to better serving the end user. In the case of payments these end users are consumers and there are few arguments to be made these days that it is the consumer that is driving change in the industry. It is very clear that the way financial transactions are being handled and whether it is online banking, mobile and contactless engagements or more traditional credit and debit card processing there really is no end in sight to the innovation that follows. Innovation continues to drive the way we all opt to interact with the financial institutions we trust with our cash and when it comes to disruptive innovation, recall back in 1990 when AT&T disrupted the credit-card business with the launch of its innovative Uni...

Flexibility; Coexistence; Innovation – with OmniPayments you have it all!

The IT landscape today brings to mind that “keeping your options open” is of paramount importance when it comes time for decision making. When faced with responding to changing market conditions it’s never wise to go “all in” on any one architecture or technology as there is always something new about to happen just around the corner. For Financial Institutions (FIs) around the world, navigating change is proving to be a big differentiator in and of itself – set your FI up to accommodate what comes next is neither a risk-mitigating step nor a cost-effective balancing act, but rather, a necessity in order to remain competitive. The days of having just one check account to anchor all financial transactions or having a single debit / ATM card for managing cash (and cash flow), are long gone. Today it has become a world dominated by the desire of FIs to be flexible, to coexist and yes, to innovate. Flexibility is all about avoiding lock-out and being open – open banking is not just ...

OmniPayments flies higher with Payments-as-a-Service

It’s getting harder and harder to ignore the cloud revolution. Its adoption is now pervasive, its growth year on year is in double-digits. As an example, Amazon Web Services continues its onward march and Microsoft’s Azure strategy is driving significant growth for the once windows-focussed company; they recently reported a rather glorious 68% year on year growth in their cloud business. Cloud expenditure growth is now 7 times greater than overall IT spend. But why has its rise been so meteoric? Let’s just think about all those Apps on your phone – what happens each time you fire up one of those small Apps. Something has to be tying this all together. Want to start your own company? Everything you need is available as a service, so you can be up and running in less than 24 hours. The same cloud revolution is coming to payments, for consumers, retailers and banks. Time to market is now a key differentiator for the provision...

OmniPayments was impressed by OzTUG – Sydney and Melbourne

OmniPayments flew the miles and made it “down under.” Paul Chandler and Vineet Bansal went to the events and came away impressed with what they saw. “There were almost seventy attendees in Sydney and around thirty attendees in Melbourne. And there was a goodly number of HPE personnel on hand to see how well the NonStop community remains fully engaged with NonStop systems, middleware and solutions,” said Chandler. It is a long way to travel and it can be weary but there really isn’t any place on earth quite like Australia. “OmniPayments took full advantage of the presence of HPE management,” added Chandler. “Our first action item from the event is an impressive one as Suresh Menon, GM Mission Critical Solutions, HPE Asia Pacific, requested we provide a WebEx for him and his regional NonStop sales teams.” As one of the few solution’s vendors participating in OzTUG it is always interesting to observe the interactions between HPE and companies like OmniPayments as HPE sales te...

How did JCPenney manage their migration to OmniPayments?

Introduction Ever wondered how JCPenney managed to migrate their old Base24 system to their new modern robust and streamlined OmniPayments payment gateway solution? OmniPayments wasn’t their original first choice; other major names were higher on the list, but for one reason or another, struggled to rise to the challenge. This article describes how JCPenney achieved this successful migration; and in a matter of months. It describes the steps they took to make their choice, and why they eventually settled on OmniPayments. They now feel their new solution is superior in many ways to the old one. The new solution provides a much improved and flexible solution that can process their payments transactions much faster, with higher volume at a much lower cost. The new solution enables business monitoring capabilities, and an infrastructure perspective that was not available to JCPenney with the previous solution. JCPenney...

OmniPayments talks JCPenney, Visa, Mobile Wallet, Security and more at major NonStop user events …

OmniPayments was out in full force yet again for perhaps the biggest Regional User Group (RUG) event held so far in 2019 and it was encouraging to hear a lot more about the success OmniPayments was having in the marketplace – continuing to replace legacy payments systems on older NonStop systems with its modern payments solution for the new NonStop X systems. The turnout in Dallas was solid - the venue, the Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine, Texas, proving to be the attraction for many and became the backdrop for an evening of networking that followed the more formal presentations of the day. The caliber of the presenters and the quality of the material covered in the presentations meant that it was going to be difficult to stand out from the crowd, but in this regard, being able to reference local JCPenney folks (who were in attendance) helped set the tone for all that followed. This major migration proved to be a topic that held a number of NonStop users captive over coffee...

Distributed Ledger Technology freed from its chains

Blockchain, the technology underlying Bitcoin and other crypto currencies has been the talk of the town for some years now. It seems a dull day that goes past without some mention of how Blockchain is going to change the world in one way or another. Organisations spend a lot of time and money resolving conflicting data records on their customers, accounts, transactions, OmniPayments is taking a novel approach to Blockchain. Know-Your-Customer (or KYC) is one of the fundamental requirements of a business as new customers are registered within their systems. One of the biggest challenges facing the modern digital bank today is speeding up the KYC element of onboarding. The modern benchmark for onboarding of new customers is now minutes not days, meaning banks and other Financial Providers need modern and immediate microservices to complete the jigsaw of the service they are providing to their end-customer. The modern financial institution i...

OmniPayments is proving that with OmniCloudX, FIs can provide their payments solutions from out of a cloud!

As the year’s major events continue to attract attendees worldwide, these forums prove ideal venues for OmniPayments to provide updates on IT choices available to Financial Institutions (FIs) looking to enhance their product offerings. It’s a competitive world and many of the legacy solutions that these FIs have depended upon for decades are proving to be both outdated and inflexible. Whether it is in Chile at the southern end of South America or in the balmy waters around the Caribbean’s Dominican Republic or even the wide open prairies surrounding Grapevine, Texas – there have been many opportunities to hear more about OmniPayments. And to no one’s surprise, there has been no other OmniPayments product that has captured the attention of Financial Institutions more so than the OmniCloudX product. The development of OmniCLoudX followed close on the heels of the HPE NonStop team announcing the availability of NonStop on Intel x86 architecture. Together with the introduction...
