It isn’t time to count out cash any time soon …

Through the years, indeed for more than fifty years now, it is as though the clock is counting down the hours until cash fades from the scene. Society has for a very long time become well-adjusted to walking up to machines, presenting pieces of plastic, and pulling cash out of the dispensary. But the flip side has always been one of protecting cash – keeping it safe. Indeed, one of the primary roles for any bank branch office is to be home to a safe that is designed to keep watch over our cash and ensure it doesn’t fall into the wrong hands.

This is the topic of a opinion column just published to the BankingTech web site -
Banking – it’s a safe bet branch banking no longer need safes! For the customers and prospects of OmniPayments, LLC, this shouldn’t come as a surprise as they too have been hearing the clarion call proclaiming an end of cash. But it really isn’t that simple and even as we contemplate less cash being in circulation and just how easy we can live without any need for cash, still it continues to be the subject of analysis and speculation even as it’s much-rumored death looks more realistic by the day!

In the opinion column it was noted how “The death of cash has been announced so many times now it should be mortally wounded – however, as we continue to hear the story that cash is disappearing, the opposite is actually true – the money supply increases year on year,” says OmniPayments VP of business development (EMEA), Craig Lawrance. “And so we shall continue to need ATMs to go on dispensing the cold hard cash.”

Agree with OmniPayment’s Lawrance or not, make sure you take a look at the article and rest assured, OmniPayments continues to invest in solutions that provide financial institutions with all the options they need to better serve their customers with cash! The clock may be counting down as the days continue to slip by but don’t count out cash any time soon. After all, when all else fails then it is still cold hard cash that helps societies persevere no matter what the odds may be!
