There have been a couple of highly successful RUG
events on both sides of the United States – one in Tampa and the other in the
Phoenix / Scottsdale area. Both events pulled a lively group of NonStop users together
and it was reported that in Tampa there were almost 100 attendees present. Next
up, it will be Southern California’s turn, before May arrives and attention
turns to Europe where both the British Isles (BITUG) and the very impressive
pan-European event jointly held with GTUG will take place. If you have plans to
be in either the UK (London) or Germany (Leipzig) then check your calendar and
if you can make either one of these events, then plan on doing so.
OmniPayments VP, Jessica Nieves, has been the featured presenter this year and she has put together an impressive presentation under the heading, “How to build an Application with 99.999999% Availability!” Jessica has been enjoying her time with the NonStop community and takes particular pleasure in describing just how well OmniPayments has been put together and just how close the product has come to achieving permanent availability – the concession to the possibility that there may be a 0.000001% chance of an outage – planned or unplanned – is a “tip of the hat” to those that really don’t fully comprehend how available the NonStop systems are today. Yes, you can build a solution atop NonStop with the possibility of only encountering 3.1536 seconds of downtime in a given year.
What you can expect to hear from Jessica is the steps
you can take – and yes, there is five of them, starting with the hardware
itself and concluding with security – in order to achieve the same level of
uptime as OmniPayments does. Without giving too much away, this does include
access to a contingency Disaster / Recovery site but even so, time and time
again, OmniPayments has pleasantly surprised prospects with just how this level
of availability can be achieved.
Perhaps the most important piece of information conveyed to everyone who attends Jessica’s presentations is how OmniPayments can be deployed any way you would like it to be – on your NonStop systems already installed; on brand new latest-edition NonStop systems that are built to your spec by OmniPayments and where the OmniPayments solution is pre-configured before shipment from OmniPayments systems integration center; or even on OmniPayments own systems and accessed on the basis of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and where the characteristics of the deployment are more cloud-like than what otherwise would be experienced from on-premise deployments.
When the next big RUG event comes up in your region, make sure you set aside time to participate and check the agenda because the insights Jessica shares with each audience certainly warrant time spent listening to her presentation.
