OmniPayments throws its full support behind events worldwide ...

As a platinum sponsor of the just-ended European (NonStop) Technical Boot Camp (ETBC), OmniPayments’ head of EMEA Sales and Business Development, Craig Lawrance, took full advantage of being the very first speaker to address the attendees immediately following the HPE keynote presenters. This is not to say that HPE didn’t provide fuel to fire up the audience but rather, it’s always good to hear from those vendors providing products to customers; it is the real-world experiences of current NonStop users that attracts a big audience to events such as this!

On the other hand, ETBC is only one event that OmniPayments is supporting with additional industry and community events being supported – some in parallel. Across Latin America there were multiple events even as the month of May winds down so don’t be surprised to find other members of the OmniPayments management team present at an event near you as OmniPayments continues to get behind all events where NonStop and Payments solutions are part of the agenda!

At ETBC this past week, Craig was joined by Vineet, OmniPayment’s Vice President, Product Delivery, and together they were on hand to talk about recent big wins by OmniPayments, none bigger perhaps for a global audience than the win at JCPenney. Not only was this truly a big win for OmniPayments but it represented a big win for NonStop as NonStop systems were now assured of a presence in this major retailer for many years to come. It’s always good to hear from those vendors who continue to ensure NonStop remains a powerful contender in the competitive world of retail.

Craig entitled the presentation, “Achieving the Impossible: JCPenney modernizes and saves on their switching costs” and given such a title it left little room for speculation about just how JCPenney responds to questions about whether or not NonStop is modern and capable of meeting their business needs well into the future. However, what Craig went to great pains to address was how quickly JCPenney was able to move away from its existing switch solutions – in this case ACI’s BASE24 – to OmniPayments.

This has always been a concern for any retailer or indeed any financial institution as they were loath to subject the rest of their organization to change. And yet, OmniPayments were able to pull off the migration, according to Craig, for a couple of reasons. OmniPayments is compatible with many legacy implementation so can be installed a piece at a time and probably more importantly, the dashboards that come with OmniPayments are so informative that they provide more than enough “carrot” to continue the migration without encountering any equivalent “stick.”

As the abstract released in advance of Craig’s presentation noted, it was an opportunity for all ETBC attendees to “Learn how JCPenney, a large American retailer, saved money on their transaction processing costs while at the same time modernizing their infrastructure.” This was followed by the observation of how, “In the current competitive retailer space, modernization in the payments ecosystem is critical and inevitable. JCPenney had the courage to change their switch and we will share their experience in the process.”

References to OmniPayments and JCPenney were also the focus of the latest article published in the May, 2019, issue of NonStop Insider, Changing NonStop systems without help from integrators is well, like changing planes in mid-flight! If you have as yet not had the opportunity to read this article, you will have missed the following:

For the last couple of months it would have been difficult to miss the articles written and the presentations given where OmniPayments has covered the work it jointly undertook with JCPenney. OmniPayments is a strong believer in teamwork and this was evident in the response that came from JCPenney. It is also a strong believer in coexistence – its Fraud Blocker solution, OmniPayments Preauthorization engine, can coexist for instance with popular payments switch product offerings.

When it came to JCPenney, the teamwork in evidence at this big American retailer together with the capability of the OmniPayments solution to coexist led to the following observation by Austin Tapscott, Senior Manager 3rd Party Operations, “OmniPayemtns could coexist with our existing applications and this allowed us to reuse our investments while transitioning to a new modern architecture.” It also led to observations about the team by Melissa Pint, SVP Information Technology JCPenney, “The dedication and sense of urgency of the team was simply exceptional. No question was too trivial.”

It will be a constant theme over the coming years as to what constitutes legacy and what really is meant by modern – many vendors would have you believe all sorts of things, but the one constant is the support of commodity Intel x86 hardware together with support for open tools, languages and utilities. For many years, OmniPayments has been a strong support of Java and it’s product set features Java throughout as it does, web services, SOA and yes, even the cloud.

However, most important of all for enterprises today, is that OmniPayments provides a solution that is easy to migrate to and supports future hardware systems – that is with OminCloudX, you have options unlike you may have ever seen before … As for latest reactions to the event from Craig, he was only too quick to complement the organizing committee even as he was just as quick to point out that the OmniPayments team, “had better conversations this year than in any other year that are already leading to more opportunities than ever before!”
